Barcelona head coach Ronald Koeman spoke out about the club’s financial issues.
The club’s annual financial report reports that Barcelona’s debt amounts to nearly EUR 1.2 billion.
There have also been rumors that salary payments are in arrears at the Catalan club. It was announced that in December, Barca refused to pay players for six months even though they had taken out a loan.
“Because of the coronavirus, clubs suffer casualties. Barcelona is also struggling because visitors are not present. Right now, both clubs have reasonably poor economic results. Not only is this condition here,” Koeman Marca quotes.
“I do not feel that this topic has any impact on the players. By agreeing to lower salaries, we have all supported the club. I don’t know if [salary delays] are valid. It needs to be defined. I can’t answer those questions in the meantime.”
