Leicester’s 4-0 victory over Aston Villa on March 9 was the last pre-shutdown Premier League match to be played.

The battle with the respiratory disease was recently examined by Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta and Rodgers compared the symptoms to climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, which he moved as Swansea ‘s manager for charity in 2011.

“It happened to me and my better half soon after [the season] separated. I began to battle seven days later, I had no aroma and no taste. I didn’t have a lot of vitality, and I was battling really, and my better half was the same. I was checked and we both had it. I could barely walk. It helped me to remember ascending Mount Kilimanjaro, you get progressively breathless as you move higher up. I felt altogether different walking 10 yards. I was going for a run and I just couldn’t do it. I felt tired, had no real appetite, and had a peculiar sensation of getting no taste for three weeks,” he told the BBC.

Last week, when players started training in small gatherings, the Premier League took its initial move towards a resumption, before full contact training was given green light on Wednesday.

On Thursday, the Premier League affirmed that action will continue with two matches on June 17, preceding a full round of matches on June 19–21.

At the month’s end, Leicester, who is third in the table, is booked to come back to action with an excursion to Watford and face a quarter-final of the FA Cup against Chelsea.
