Reports says that Lampard wants to sell Kepa with him in the summer

Football News

Recently, the Sun says Kepa and manager Frank Lampard had frank discussions in training and therefore the Spaniard is of the opinion that he still remains the amount of one choice in goal.

The 25-year-old was unexpectedly dropped by Lampard in the last game and Leicester and Chelsea, with seasoned goalkeeper Willy Caballero taking his place in the 2-2 draw.

In January Lampard agreed to drop Kepa in favor of back-up shot-stopper Willy Cabellero, who played five of Chelsea’s last seven matches before the season’s coronavirus-enforced break.

Kepa remains “one of the simplest goalkeepers” within the sector, but he “must be mentally stronger” in order to reclaim the sum of one jersey at Chelsea, in line with Gianfranco Zola’s club legend.

After a string of underwhelming performances from the Spanish shot-stopper, Frank Lampard decided to drop Kepa from his start-up for the Blues’ 2-2 draw with Leicester on 1 February.

Willy Caballero was drafted against the Foxes, with Lampard publicly claiming that, in the face of criticism and adversity, he hopes Kepa will come “stronger”

Caballero’s yet convincing performance against the Foxes may help his cause, with the previous Manchester financier caught out of place for Ben Chilwell’s last half goal that gave Leicester the lead.

Despite the very fact that he is likely to urge his position back, there are still reports that Lampard wants to sell Kepa with him in the summer, and thus the board is expected to clash because they don’t want to urge a player they spent £72 m on too early.

Kepa says there is no difference between him and Lampard. Even after all the challenges in 2020 he is completely focused on his duties at Stamford Bridge and has given an outstanding degree of confidence in his capabilities.
