During the Europa League dispute, Red Star apologized for the ethnic slur directed at Zlatan Ibrahimovic and vowed to recognize and prosecute the culprit.

The Swede sat on the bench for the whole match, as Milan drew 2-2 against Red Star in the first leg of the last 32 in the Europa League.

A video posted by journalist Arnesa Bujusmic-Kustura on Twitter shows the Milan striker unmoved as he is heckled by Red Star fans who were not permitted to be in the stadium due to COVID restrictions.

To see his plans and our plans, of course. You still refer to your players and we’re very happy with what he did with his contract situation.

The club wrote in a statement, “Red Star strongly condemns the offensive sentences directed at Zlatan Ibrahimovic. As a club, we have done everything to ensure that the organization of the match is at the level of the two great teams and we will not allow a single primitive to throw a stain on the traditional hospitality of our country and our people.”
