Emilio Butragueno, director of Real Madrid, may have allegedly hinted at a new deal for veteran midfielder Luka Modric.
Despite being 35 years of age and undoubtedly now in the twilight of his career, the Croatia international continues to be a key performer for Zinedine Zidane’s side.
Even, it may be that, according to Marca, we are set to see Modric devote even more of his future to Real Madrid.
Marca quotes Butragueno as “There are players like Modric who make this sport better.”
“In the first half, his pass to [Ferland] Mendy was a positive thing. Having him is a privilege for us.
He has given so much to us; he still gives so much to us, and he will continue to do so.”
This may be a very risky move by Los Blancos, but it means that in the years ahead, they are optimistic that Modric still has plenty to give the club.
With Modric proving himself to be one of the team’s most iconic players of recent times, many Madrid fans will certainly be pleased with this, though.
In his tenure at the Bernabeu, the former Tottenham man won two La Liga titles and four Champions League titles, as well as the coveted Ballon d’Or award back in 2018.
