Rangers finished their pre-season on a positive note with a 2-1 win against Real Madrid. Rangers are much ahead of Real Madrid in pre-season and it was quite clear from the off. They dominated the first half and looked sharp in attack. Fashion Sakala, a summer signing created a number of chances in the first half. Ryan Kent managed the best effort on the Real Madrid goal but was denied by the crossbar. For all Rangers dominance, it was Real Madrid who took the lead in the eighth minute through Rodrygo with their only shot of the half.
Ten minutes into the second half, Sakala eventually scored the equalizer powering a shot past Andriy Lunin in the Real Madrid goal. It got worse for Madrid when nacho was sent off for a second bookable offense. Cedric Itten then scored a goal with a superb effort two minutes after the sending-off to seal the victory.

“First and foremost, we deserved the win and we have been excellent over the whole weekend.” Rangers boss Steven Gerrard said after they beat Real Madrid. “Obviously, it was two different teams for obvious reasons, but every single person over the course of the two 90 minutes has been excellent and they have given me a lot to think about in the two days in terms of picking teams for real next week. We have got valuable minutes into important players and we have shown a level out of possession that I really like.”
