Mino Raiola, a sports promoter, believes FIFA is needless, and he cannot accept that an organization with people in jail wants to regulate my company.
The Sports Stakeholders Committee and the FIFA Council aim to introduce new agent and player reforms, fully revamping the present football business model. FIFA claims it will protect football’s image by instituting a tribunal cap and a licensing system, which has enraged Raiola.
“I believe FIFA should be eliminated. My dream is to see a modern football scheme, a more honest system, and industry, and hopefully, I’ll live to see it. This is an outdated system,” Raiola told The Athletic.
“When you have controversies every year, it’s no longer a coincidence. It’s a trend, it’s in your DNA, and it’s the reason your organization is what it is. Then, in 2021, the big question is: what is the point of getting FIFA?
I cannot agree that an organization whose members are imprisoned wishes to control my life and business,” he added.
“I refuse to accept that, and I refuse to accept that they are my boss. I can not embrace their ability to govern things in a manner that is illogical, unethical, and contradictory to my values. I will battle for player rights because they want to strip away the player’s strength. And that is something I can not consider. I’ve never done so, and I never will.”
