Manchester United advanced to the Europa League quarter-finals with a 1-0 victory over AC Milan thanks to Paul Pogba’s goal. This was the Frenchman’s first appearance since February 6. And when Pogba gave his side the lead after 48 minutes, United was reminded of how much they missed his class.

Until that point, the Red Devils didn’t seem to be capable of breaking down Stefano Pioli’s defense, which would have advanced with a goalless draw following the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

Dean Henderson was another standout for the hosts, stopping clean sheets for Alexis Saelemaekers and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

On Friday, United will hear who their quarter-final rivals will be.

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw expressed his reflections after Manchester United defeated AC Milan in the return leg of the Europa League 1/8 final (1-0, game one 1-1).

“Of course, we are delighted to continue. To be frank, and the lads will agree, we didn’t look very good in the first half,” Shaw told the BBC.

“We started pretty well for the first 10-15 minutes, possessed the ball, but then it seemed as if we shut off. We kept losing the ball and putting ourselves under pressure, but luck was on our side. In the second half, having a top-level player like Paul Pogba is always beneficial. Today’s match result was determined by him. Yet we know we have to improve.”
