A strong one for Manchester City was the signing of Benjamin Mendy. It seems, however, that the Sky Blues were left with a single positive from that deal and that is the presence of Mendy at the club. As per Sport Witness, the defender’s bad form coupled with repeated injuries has “annoyed” Pep Guardiola.

The injury woes of Benjamin Mendy were constant during his stay in Manchester. That has upset Pep Guardiola a lot as he is unable to rely on the player he has helped a lot in recent times. His bad form is now starting to build cracks between the player and the manager, combined with repeated long-term injuries.

Understandably, in looking beyond the French international, Manchester City is not incorrect.

Benjamin could be pulled down the pecking order as the Premier League’s race to the top intensifies. Manchester City’s defense has been the best this season in the Premier League and Pep’s side can not afford any more let-ups going forward, especially if they are to pose a threat to the title. Joao Cancelo is one of the top-rated full-backs and is a very versatile backline player. Though holding Nathan Ake on standby, he can play ahead of Mendy.
