The future of Lionel Messi always has an immense question mark. At the moment, all we know is that during the January transfer window, the Argentine won’t leave the club, but in six months, his deal with Barcelona will come to an end, and then he will be free to leave wherever his heart desires.
We also know that Paris Saint-Germain, as the French titans are serious about building a super team and effectively reuniting Leo with Neymar Jr, is one of the contenders for his signature.
The Brazilian is keen on that as well. He spoke about wanting to play with Messi one more time in his career in an interview not so long ago and, according to Fabrizio Romano, who addressed the matter on his Here We Go podcast, the star of PSG is serious about that.
The only way Ney’s wish comes true, however, considering Barcelona’s desperate financial state, is if Messi himself chooses to join the Parisiens in the summer.
By the time summer rolls in, it will be extremely impossible for the Catalans to reverse their misfortunes to such a degree that they have enough money to pursue one of the most expensive footballers in the world.
Still, if, as Romano suggests, PSG and particularly Neymar are serious about their intentions and Messi does not change his mind about leaving, there is a chance that we will see Leo come summertime in a different kit.
Let’s hope the new president, whoever he might be, comes prepared with a good sporting initiative.
