According to sources, Neymar Jr has left former club Barcelona feeling betrayed and used since agreeing on a new deal with Paris Saint-Germain.
Four years after leaving for a world record fee, the Brazilian had been linked with a return to the Catalan giants. However, those rumors were put to rest earlier this week when Neymar agreed to a new contract with the French champions. The contract extension will retain him at the Parc des Princes until 2025, with a weekly salary of £500,000.
According to RAC1, Neymar’s decision to reject Barcelona in favor of PSG has angered the Spanish giant’s board of directors. They say that Barca feels misled and that after speaking with the Brazilian ace, they believe they’ve been duped.
Neymar has scored 105 goals in 186 games for Barcelona and was a member of the MSN forward trio that also featured Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. But, since he arrived in France, he has been equally impressive, scoring 85 goals in 112 appearances.
Neymar Jr Words:
Neymar spoke to the media before signing the extension with PSG. He said, “We want to do what is right for all those involved. I have time left on my contract here at PSG. I’ve already said that I am content here and that I am in far better shape than in previous seasons. I’ve changed a few things in this section. I, too, have had tough times with things that few are aware of. Contrary to popular belief, I have always worked hard and always been professional. PSG has progressed significantly, and the club is now well-respected. When people dream about PSG, they know we’re in the Champions League’s final four, five, or six teams.”
In each of his three full seasons with PSG, Neymar has secured Ligue 1. However, if the club is to win another league championship this season, they will face a significant challenge.
They are four points behind Lille with a game in hand but are counting on one of their championship rivals to make a mistake in one of their final two games.
Meanwhile, PSG’s dreams of reaching a second consecutive Champions League final were dashed in the last four by Manchester City.
