After beating Burnley 1-0, Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic has spoken out about their lead in the EPL. “It was exactly what we were planning and we did a good job and deserved the points.”

“We are at the top of the table and happy,” Matic told the BBC.

“We are right where we’re meant to be. Burnley is a strong team, and winning here isn’t easy. We know that we’re going from one game to another. This was the last match—and now we’re going to deal with the match against Liverpool.”

Manchester United is prepared to fight for the Premier League title and wants his side to prove it on Sunday against Liverpool. Nemanja Matic is optimistic.

Thanks to Paul Pogba’s deflected second-half volley, United climbed to the top of the table with a 1-0 win over Burnley on Tuesday.

Next weekend, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men travel to Anfield to take on their biggest rivals and Matic is enjoying the chance to meet the reigning champions.

Matic told MUTV, “I think this kind of victory shows that we are ready to compete for the title.”
