Mourinho on Bale and Alli: “I expect good play from the whole team, not individual players”

Football News

The success of Gareth Bale and Dele Alli after the Europa League match against Wolfsberger was commented on by Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho (4-1).

This is what I have been asked more than once and my response remains the same: our role is to win and I expect the whole team to play a good game, not individual players. It’s not perceived by anyone. The players of Tottenham are good enough not to be part of the previews,’ Mourinho told the press conference.

“We’ve got a result, we’ve seen the team play, and that’s only possible when everybody does what they need. I replaced Bale because I thought it was difficult for him to play the full 90 minutes and the team needed the freshness Lamela gave them.”

As for Dele, he worked hard, got a yellow card and it was a risk, provided that the referee gave us cards very quickly. Dele continued to play, however, but I figured Ndombele was supposed to come out, add freshness to the team, and eradicate some imbalances in our game.

“So I’m pleased with all the players, including the two that you’ve asked about.”
