Former Arsenal player Ian Wright has been criticized for some of his choices by club head coach Mikel Arteta. Wright said on Optus Sport’s The Kelly and Wrighty show, “I have to say that with the type of players the coach is picking now, guys like Emile Smith-Rowe and Joe Willock should get a chance.”
Because you look at Willian, it’s easy, nothing happens and he plays badly. Why do they have players like Kolasinac on the pitch? Why does Mustafi play? I’d rather look at Saliba, who plays for Smith-Rowe in the under-23 side. I’d rather get something new to see.
I would say to the management: if the coach is not going to release him and let him go, give Mesut Özil money. The same goes for Kolasinac and other players who aren’t going to be helpful at the club. That’s what Arteta needs: players that will be helpful.”
Arsenal has to know that if they lose to Brighton and West Bromwich, they are in a position where things could get worse. There are matches that they must win.
