Will Michail Antonio Miss Rest Of The Season?
According to The Sun, Michail Antonio is expected to miss the rest of the season after scans showed the severity of the hamstring injury he suffered earlier this week against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
With a hamstring injury, West Ham’s striker Antonio was forced to leave the field in the first half of their 3-2 victory over Wolves on Monday.
Antonio has received scans on his left leg fracture, and although the seriousness has yet to be publicly reported, fourth-placed West Ham worry he will miss a large portion of their eight-game run-in as they attempt to finish in the Champions League positions.
Antonio’s long-term absence is being feared. It all started after main midfielder Declan Rice was ruled out for four weeks. He sustained a knee injury while playing for England.
This is a challenge that will hold the Hammers captain out for at least four weeks. Moyes will be left without two of his most important players at a critical juncture.
Antonio has had hamstring problems in the past. But West Ham and the 31-year-old are being extra cautious about his conditioning and handling his returns. This may also affect his comeback.
After Wolves’ victory, manager David Moyes said, ‘Mick feels his hamstring a little bit. We’ve only got to hope it’s nothing really serious. Although if you’re a West Ham fan, you know everything about Mick’s hamstrings. We’ve got to be very careful about it.’
