For many months, Lionel Messi’s future has been at the forefront of the Barcelona news, and a report now says that he and his family are learning French.
Canal+ France journalist Geoffroy Garétier is quoted as telling the network, in quotes from El Mundo Deportivo, that alongside his wife and children, the 33-year-old is studying the language.
The player and his family are only fluent in Spanish, and have no fluency in other languages, despite spending their lives between his native Argentina and Spain, playing the entirety of his career in Barcelona.
The study quotes Garétier as saying: “Messi and all his family, his wife and kids are being taught, French.” If he is going to sign for Manchester City, why is he going to study French? There’s no logic to this. This material, which I trust very much, is a very reliable source.
Messi is now in the final six months of his Camp Nou contract, which expires on 30 June 2020, and it remains unclear whether to put a new deal on paper or whether to consider leaving the club.
