There is a pivot in Barcelona a few months ahead of them, but Lionel Messi warned fans that the club has no money for players like Neymar. Lionel Messi has been inspired by the power of Ronald Koeman since becoming Barcelona coach, but thinks the club is so financially crippled that “it will be difficult to get back where it was”.
Messi was speaking to La Sexta in one of his first interviews since telling the club of his intention to leave in August. But Messi certainly does not envy anyone, given the financial state of Barca, to step into such a position, and implied fans do not raise their hopes about the prospect of Neymar returning.
“This [the finances of the club] is a difficult time for the club, as everyone is. For this [the club’s finances] it is a difficult time for the club, as it is everyone. But the club is very bad [financially], really bad from what we hear. It’s going to be hard to get back to where it was.”
