Kylian Mbappe, a striker for Paris Saint-Germain, deludes himself by believing he is still the best player on the pitch. Kylian Mbappe has uncovered an ego tactic that encourages him to think his talents are unrivaled, even while struggling against Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. He still has an edge over Messi and Ronaldo, having won the World Cup with France and several club trophies.

Mbappe said of egotism in an interview with French broadcaster RMC Sport: “Of course it’s important that when you’re going through a difficult time, no one other than yourself is going to drive you. And you must persuade yourself that you are capable of bringing mountains down.

People don’t get an ego, so when you’re not doing well, no one can come to your house and tell you that you’re capable of doing so. It’s just you and your thoughts. You must convince yourself that you are capable of amazing things. Any time I walk onto the field, I assure myself that I’m the best because I’ve played on fields with Messi and Cristiano.

They’re better athletes than me, and they’ve accomplished much more than I have. But in my head, I always remind myself that I’m the best, and that way you don’t restrict yourself and want to give your everything.

Of course, there are occasions where people don’t understand because I believe there is a barrier that is generated about this issue, where one does not describe what ego is.

People would believe their ego is not paying a penalty to a mate or having a higher wage than the player on the opposing side. Not just that, but it’s still in the planning. It’s something personal, something above yourself, something that goes beyond the surface of saying I, me. But I know there is a lot to be said about that.”
