Valencia ended an eight-game winless run and, with a 1-0 win at Valladolid in the Spanish League on Sunday, pulled away from the relegation zone.

With a shot from outside the field, Carlos Soler scored in the 76th minute to give Valencia its first league victory since a 4-1 rout of Real Madrid in November.

After video analysis, Valencia had a late goal by Manu Vallejo disallowed and Valladolid almost equalized when replacement Sergi Guardiola hit the woodwork in stoppage time with a header.

With 19 points from 18 matches, the away victory moved Valencia to the 13th position. It was sitting just outside the entrance of the weekend relegation zone. Valladolid remained in 16th place.

After its game against Athletic Bilbao on Saturday was postponed due to heavy snow in the Spanish capital, Atletico Madrid remains atop the table.

Real Madrid also moved a point off the lead on Saturday after a 0-0 draw at relegation-threatened Osasuna, while Barcelona jumped to the third position with Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann scoring a pair of goals each after routing Granada 4-0. Atletico has three games to play against its nearest rivals.

Due to the poor weather conditions in Madrid, the Real Madrid squad was trapped in northern Spain following its match against Osasuna.
