Rio Ferdinand, a former Manchester United goalkeeper, has spoken out about former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard, who is currently in charge of Rangers.
“Steven has taken the game by the scruff of the neck and pulled it – in the Champions League semi-finals and finals, in the FA Cup finals. The issue is that I’d like to see how he would have influenced the game if he was on a very good side. Such teams workload is more equally distributed,” Ferdinand explained on the Vibe with Five YouTube page.
“In his unit, everything revolved around him, and the ball always went through him. The distribution of the game varies marginally among championship-winning teams. We had Ronaldo, but also Rooney and Tevez.”
“If I buy a ticket to a game, I want one with Gerrard because he has flashes that the others don’t. He can change the game with a single rebound or goal shot. At any training session, he did something that made you think, “Oh! He’s a great player. We would have accomplished anything – and more – if he had played for Manchester United.”
