From the outset, the game was played in the visitors’ half. Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Raheem Sterling also had decent chances in the first passages, but both struggled to capitalize.

Jesse Lingard hit a strong long-range shot in the 11th minute. Elia Benedettini, on the other hand, intervened beautifully. A few moments later, John Stones failed to save a header that went just short of the post.
However, it was already 1-0 less than two minutes later, with Ben Chilwell heading flat-footed into the eleventh meter and James Ward-Prowse breaking clear of a defender and hitting a precise shot into the bottom right-hand corner to give his side the lead.

Shortly after, Sterling took a risky attempt by shooting into the side netting. Calvert-Lewin, on the other hand, was more accurate, scoring the second goal with his head after a centering pass from Reece James.
In the minutes that followed, Gareth Southgate’s charges had some more chances to raise the lead.

Sterling was especially involved and made his mark in the 31st minute with a powerful shot from an acute angle that deflected off a San Marino defender and into the net.

Lingard had a chance to add to his tally at the end of the first half, but Benedettini saved it beautifully.

Calvert-Levin netted again eight minutes after switching sides. This time, it was Lingard’s strong center that found the fully unguarded Everton striker standing on the fifth meter.

Lingard should have added a goal ten minutes later, but his shot from an acute angle was saved by Benedettini.

Ward-Prowse scored from a free kick in the 72nd minute, but the ball was deflected off the post by the goalkeeper. Lingard’s long-range shot arrived minutes later, but Benedettini was there to save it.

However, the hosts scored their fifth goal seven minutes before the end of the session. Ollie Watkins put the ball in the net after a pass from Phil Foden, and with a precise shot from sixteen yards, the final score was 5-0.
