Before beating fourth-tier Newport County in the FA Cup third round on Sunday after the game ended 1-1 after extra-time, Premier League Brighton and Hove Albion were forced to a sudden death penalty shootout.
During the shootout that the South Coast side won 4-3 on penalties, Brighton keeper Jason Steele made four excellent saves.
As Solly March fired home a fine shot from the edge of the box in the 90th minute, Brighton looked to have sealed victory in normal time.
But Newport, who enjoyed a run to the fifth round in 2019, equalized when Steele totally missed a cross and the ball flew in off Brighton defender Adam Webster’s legs in the sixth minute of stoppage time.
But both Steele and Webster redeemed themselves with Steel’s brilliant saves after a goalless extra-time, and then Webster scored the winning spot-kick to send Graham Potter’s team to the fourth round draw.
