Brady’s corner for Ben Mee’s header enough for Burnley win

Match Updates

With a 1-0 victory over Sheffield United, who remain 11 points from safety, Ben Mee’s header lifted Burnley five points clear of the bottom three.

After 32 minutes, Mee nodded in Robbie Brady’s corner to settle a game of few clear-cut odds at Turf Moor, with the plucky Blades again ruining a concentration slip in an otherwise largely even game.

They had come close from a corner of their moments before falling behind with Rhian Brewster thwarted on the line by the block of Josh Brownhill, while David McGoldrick pulled a good save out of Pope five minutes after the interval.

Elsewhere, Aaron Ramsdale was in good shape to keep out Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood’s efforts, but Mee did enough to lift Burnley to 16th, three points ahead of 17th-placed Brighton, who played a game more, with just his fifth Premier League goal from 175 appearances.
