Due to the lack of occasions, the Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid played an interesting game from the tactical, not so much from the aesthetic, rather simple, which was that both Imanol Alguacil as Diego Simeone knew how to override his rival’s virtues. Two very hard-working focused, and intense teams demonstrated why they were placed first and second at the event. Both of them minimized mistakes which penalized them.

Mario Hermoso and Marcos Llorente’s second-half goals gave Atletico Madrid a 2-0 Real Sociedad victory to see them move three points clear at the top of La Liga.

Atleti already has a second-placed Real Madrid game in hand and will soon have two Real players in action at Granada’s home on Wednesday night.

After Hermoso scored with the first attempt on target, a perfect header in the 49th minute, the away win for Atleti arrived.

In the 74th minute, Llorente then doubled their advantage, and Atleti went on to preserve another clean sheet and clinch their 10th victory to start the season in 13 league games.

For now, Sociedad stays third in the meantime but must find a way to arrest their current form after losing their last three league matches and drawing the previous three.
