Due to COVID-19 limitations, Manchester United’s away leg against Real Sociedad in the Europa League has been relocated to the Allianz Stadium in Turin.
United was scheduled to fly on February 18 to Real Sociedad’s Anoeta Stadium in the Europa League for their 32-round fixture.
However, due to the Spanish government’s decision to ban all arrivals from areas affected by COVID-19 mutations, the game will now be played at Juventus’ venue. On the same day, the rescheduled game will be held.
United will also, as it stands, host Sociedad on February 25 at Old Trafford.
‘UEFA may announce that the UEFA Europa League Round of the 32nd first leg match between Real Sociedad de Futbol and Manchester United FC will now take place at the Juventus Stadium in Turin,’ said a statement from the governing body.
The date of the match (18 February 2021) and the time of kick-off (18:55CET) will remain the same.’
“UEFA would like to thank Real Sociedad de Futbol and Manchester United FC for their close cooperation and assistance in finding a solution to the issue at hand, as well as the Italian Football Federation and Juventus for their support and agreeing to host the match in question.”
In the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 matches in Budapest, RB Leipzig will face Liverpool. As in Spain, due to the current COVID-19 protocols, the German authorities refused the English side’s entry into the country.
On February 16, Leipzig was due to host Liverpool at the Red Bull Arena.
In a statement over the weekend, “Uefa would like to thank RB Leipzig and Liverpool FC for their close cooperation and assistance in finding a solution to the problem at hand, as well as the Hungarian Football Federation for their support and their agreement to host the match in question,” it said.
It was revealed on Monday that the Manchester City match at Borussia Monchengladbach had been moved as well. At the Puskas Arena in Budapest, the first leg of the Round 16 tie will now be played.
