Late goals from Phil Foden, Gabriel Jesus, and Ferran Torres of Manchester City turned around what seemed to be one of the greatest FA Cup upsets against Cheltenham Town of all time.
When City failed to deal with Ben Tozer’s long throw and Alfie May nipped in to redirect the ball into the roof of the net, the League Two outfit took the lead just before the hour mark.
The lead lasted until nine minutes before the break when Foden, the lone bright star of City, ghosted in at the far post to deflect Joao Cancelo’s cross back home.
Three minutes later, when Jesus was found alone in the center of the box by a long chipped ball from Fernandina, the tie was settled in City’s favor and the striker managed sublimely before tucking away calmly. In the fifth round, Torres made sure of City’s position in injury time.
In the next round, City will fly to South Wales to face Swansea.
