Sky Sports writes that Manchester City has rejected talks regarding a potential move of striker Lionel Messi.
As his deal with Barcelona expires, the Argentine will become a free agent in the summer. He will transfer to another club for free if the arrangement is not renewed.
Last off-season, the forward decided to move clubs, but Josep Bartomeu, Barça’s then-president, categorically refused to let him go.
At the time, the media called Messi’s key contenders PSG and Manchester City, but the English club says they didn’t negotiate with the Argentine last summer or after and didn’t give him any offers.
The city remains interested in Messi and will begin active transfer work in March/April this year, it was previously reported.
