Real Madrid has reported that until the end of the current season, their striker Luka Jovic has rejoined his former team Eintracht Frankfurt on a loan contract.
In a reported EUR 60m deal in the summer of 2019, the 22-year-old was signed by Los Blancos from Frankfurt but has struggled to settle in the Spanish capital.
Jovic was unable to dislodge Karim Benzema as the central striker of the club and, due to his lack of game-time, he was consequently at the center of Real Madrid transfer coverage.
In total last season, Jovic only started four league matches, his debut campaign in Spain, and this campaign started only twice in La Liga, featuring in the division for the first 15 rounds of competition of the club for just 149 minutes.
In the 2018/19 campaign for the Bundesliga club, the Serbian striker netted 27 goals, helping to fire them into the last four of the Europa League, but was unable to reproduce that form in Madrid.
This summer, he’ll return to Los Blancos, but his long-term future remains uncertain.
