Former Inter defender Lucio praised Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku and said Antonio Conte’s team has “all the credentials” to dethrone Juventus in Italy.
Lucio joined Inter on a free transfer from Bayern Munich, where he helped the Nerazzurri win the Treble in 2009-10. However, the Brazilian spent one season at Juventus under new Inter coach Conte, where he also won the Scudetto.
“I watch fewer games than I would like, but Inter now has all the qualifications to break Juventus’ dominance,” Lucio told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
“It’s odd to see [Antonio] Conte on the Nerazzurri bench, but results are what matters in football, and he’s getting them. He puts in a lot of effort on the physical side, Inter can move from defense to offense, and they have a couple of outstanding strikers. I hope [captain Samir] Handanovic and his squad will achieve the same success that my Inter has over the years.”
