Liverpool: Trent Alexander-Arnold

Liverpool left-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has signed a new long-term deal with the club. Alexander-Arnold has made 179 appearances for Liverpool after making his debut in the League Cup back in 2016. He has won the Premier League, Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, and Uefa Super Cup with Liverpool. He was also part of the shortlist for the 2019 ballon dor.

“I’m honored to be given the opportunity and to be shown the trust in the club to be given an extension, so it was a no-brainer for me,” Liverpool left-back Trent Alexander-Arnold said. “The state the club is in and where I’m at in my career is always a good option for me. To extend and make sure I’m here longer is always a good thing. I’m made up.”

“It’s the only club I’ve ever really known, so to be here for this amount of time and extending to be here for a longer amount of time is amazing for me and my family,” he added. “It’s a proud moment for me – it always is – signing a new contract here.”

The Liverpool full-back revealed that he was relieved to see Virgil van Dijk back in training. The center back had suffered a knee injury after a collision with Jordan Pickford early last season.

“In and around the team, he’s such a big difference for us,” said Alexander-Arnold. “Amazing guy, amazing player. But the impact he has on us is huge, he knows that himself and knows the role he needs to play within the team, as a leader and as one of the captains. He’s a big part of the team and everyone is really pleased to see him back training and in and around the team.”
