Liverpool sufferes a 0:1 loss against Chelsea

Football News

Liverpool suffered yet another loss, this time by a score of 0:1 against Chelsea at Anfield.

After just over a quarter of an hour of play, the visitors should have taken the lead. After the ball was mistakenly played into the Liverpool penalty area, Thiago Alcantara missed it, but the shocked Timo Werner just nudged it towards the target, and Alisson had no problems intervening.

The German had already defeated the Brazilian a few moments before. Former RB Leipzig player took off beautifully from deep in the box for a pass, outrunning the Reds’ goalkeeper and putting the ball in the net. The target was disallowed, but VAR revealed that there was only a minor incompletion.

There was nothing that could take Chelsea’s lead away just before the break. Mason Mount intercepted a long-range pass from Kante on the left flank, charged down the center, and fired perfectly at the post amid assists from Fabinho and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Londoners have a chance to extend their lead in the second half. Ben Chilwell’s shot came from an acute angle after exchanging the ball with the Mount, but Alisson was up to the challenge.

The Brazilian goalkeeper was then saved by one of his defenders as Hakim Ziyech attempted to score. Werner struck from a similar spot to Chilwell with less than a quarter of an hour remaining, but Alisson was on top once more.
