Lingard had a lot of failures at Manchester United

Football News

Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard admitted that he had “a lot of failures” at Manchester United. Lingard has established himself at Old Trafford since going through the club’s academy, making over 200 senior appearances. He had a difficult path through youth football, a string of loan moves, and a prolonged knee injury lay-off in 2014.

“When I was in the Under-18s, I was still little, I played most of the Under-16s games because a lot of players were bigger than me, but I wasn’t especially bothered,” Lingard told The Official Manchester United Podcast.

“I’ve always been working hard, always staying behind, always doing what was right.”Lingard had a lot of failures at Manchester United

“I’ve been injured on my debut and I’ve been out for six months and I’ve had a lot of losses but if you keep fighting, working hard and believe, the dreams come true. It’s the biggest club in the world and it’s hard to start from the bottom and work your way up.”

“I think it’s about holding on to the plan, but sometimes you go off track. I went on loan, I had to struggle there and fight for my place when I came back to United.”

“I’ve been injured on my debut and I’ve been out for six months and I’ve suffered a lot of setbacks but if you keep battling, working hard and believing, the dreams come true. It’s the world’s largest club and it’s hard to start from below and work your way up.

“There are lots of challenges on the road, lots of peaks and downs, but when you actually get to the end you’re competing for the first week of the season, week out, you’re appreciating every moment you’ve experienced.”
