Robert Lewandowski, a striker from Bayern Munich, was recognized as the best player in the world last week, securing him a spot at the top of the football table. Robert Lewandowski says that he can never be compared to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of longevity, but joked that he is now the one sitting on the top football table.
The prolific Bayern Munich striker was named the Best FIFA Men’s Player for 2020 last week thanks to his sensational form over the past year for treble-winning Bayern. But Lewandowski argues that he can now be regarded in the same debate as two of the game’s all-time greats based on his goalscoring numbers in recent years.
“Messi and Ronaldo have been sitting at the same table, at the top, for a very long time, and that’s what makes them incomparable,” he told France Football.
“So, to answer your question, from this point of view, I can’t see myself next to them. That said, if you take the numbers for this year and even previous ones, in terms of results and goals scored, I think I’m pretty fine.
Failing to be at the same table as Messi and Ronaldo, I think I can invite them to eat at mine!”
