Lewandowski on a potential move to MLS: “I don’t think about so far in the future”

Football News

Robert Lewandowski, the Bayern Munich star, said he knows a lot about MLS, but in the future, he will not be drawn to a potential move to North America.

In the past, Lewandowski’s wife has said that her husband is interested in ending his Los Angeles career, which is intriguing to both LA Galaxy and Los Angeles FC.

Although the 32-year-old does not shut any doors, he has suggested that right now he is not thinking much about his long-term future.

The Bayern star said in an interview with CBS Sports: “Playing in the USA? I don’t know because I don’t know what it means to me and when. I certainly know a lot about MLS because there were a few Polish players and also German players playing there and they talk to me about life there, but also about MLS.”

“They say there is a step up [in the consistency of the league] every year and they want to be higher. I don’t know exactly what that means to me personally, but I’m very happy to be here [in Bavaria].

“I don’t think about so far in the future.”

In 2014, Lewandowski joined Bayern and became one of the club’s greatest strikers ever, receiving the 2020 Best FIFA Men’s Player award after leading the German giants to a treble.

In 2019, the forward signed a contract extension that will hold him through the 2022-23 season with the club.

In 2020-21, the seasoned forward was in incredible form again, scoring 31 times in 30 games in all competitions. That comes after a season when, in 47 matches, Lewandowski netted 55 goals.
