According to a story by the Portuguese outlet O Jogo, Leicester City are reportedly looking to sign Braga center-back David Carmo. Carmo is a 21-year-old defender from Portugal who, back in January, broke into the Braga first team. He has received comparisons to Liverpool hero Virgil van Dijk, renowned for his imposing personality, athleticism, and skill on the ball.
O Jogo states that the Foxes are interested in taking the foreign youth of Portugal to the King Power Stadium, having been impressed when both sides met in the group stage of the Europa League.”Premier League, he’s got all the conditions to play.”
Portugal creates amazing Premier League players and he is no exception. With a little more training, I assume he’s not going to have any trouble playing in the Premier League.
Leicester is no stranger to buying from the Primeira Liga of Portugal. They made Sporting CP forward Islam Slimani their record signing back in the 2016 summer transfer window, and for large figures, they also signed right-back Ricardo Pereira and Adrien Silva from the Portuguese league.
When the likes of Wes Morgan and Jonny Evans near the end of their careers, the Foxes may be in the hunt for a new center-back. Wesley Fofana, Daniel Amartey, and Caglar Soyuncu are all younger choices at the club, but there will be a need for depth for a side aiming to achieve daily European football.
If the side of Brendan Rodgers wishes to secure Carmo’s services, it will cost them a decent amount. The new contract for the 21-year-old extends until 2025, with a £ 35m escape clause. He was also formerly affiliated with fellow Manchester United and Liverpool Premier League clubs.
