Laporta places an election banner near Real Madrid’s stadium

Football News

Former President Joan Laporta of Barcelona, who wanted to run for the post again, continues his campaign.

In a house in Madrid near the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid’s stadium, a huge banner with his picture was installed.

“Glad to meet again,” said the banner. Laporta made a post with the words “Hello Madrid” on Twitter.

This will be Laporta’s fourth run for president of Barcelona. He won the 2003 race, continued to run in 2006 because of a lack of other candidates, and lost to Josep Bartomeu in 2015. Laporta served as the president of Barcelona from 2003 to 2010. The club won La Liga four times and the Champions League twice during that period and won 12 trophies in total.

The intention to take part in the election of the President of Barcelona has been confirmed by eight candidates at the moment. In January 2021, the election will take place.
