Koeman on 6 Bayern trophies: Barca were better because of the style

Football News

Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman reflected on the fact that in the last seven months, Bayern had managed to win their sixth trophy.

‘I liked the six trophies that Guardiola won in Barcelona better. It was the best football we’ve seen in the last 25 years. Because of how Barcelona did it, it was better than Bayern.

Nonetheless, Bayern has accomplished a tremendous accomplishment,’ said Koeman.

Note that since the coronavirus club World Cup was held not in December but in February, Bayern was unable to formally replicate the Barcelona record, which won six trophies in 2009, led by Guardiola.

Bayern is now officially perfect: they took the World Cup club, won all possible trophies in seven months.

“Bayern’s sextuple? I prefer Guardiola’s sextuple at Barca. It was the best play in the past 25 years,” Ronald Koeman told reporters on Friday.

“Because of how it was done, it was better than Bayern. It’s still a huge achievement [for Bayern].”

On Thursday, Bayern Munich beat Tigres 1-0 in the Club World Cup final. In just eight months, that was their sixth title. The Hansi Flick side is the first team to win six-fold since Barcelona’s Pep Guardiola won six trophies in 2009.
