Klopp shocked seeing Trent out of the international squad

Football News

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was shocked when Anfield favorite Trent Alexander-Arnold was left out of England’s World Cup qualifiers last week, and he admits he “doesn’t understand” why.

Alexander-form Arnold’s has let him down this season, with the 22-year-old failing to live up to the high standards he set for himself the previous two seasons.

It also places Alexander-Role Arnold’s spot in England’s delayed Euro 2020 squad this summer in jeopardy, but Klopp says he cannot comprehend why his player was ignored.

“If Trent Alexander-Arnold is not in the team, England would have a very large squad.” When he didn’t get the call-up, I was shocked. Of course, I appreciate the decision. But I didn’t get it,” Klopp is quoted by BBC Sport as saying.

“Of course, I admire Gareth’s decision-making process, but I didn’t get it because Trent Alexander-Arnold was the standout right-back in world football for the previous two seasons, let’s say the season before and the season before this. That is the reality and at such a young age.” He began the [2020/21] season with Covid, and you can guess how long it took him to get into the season. Yet, from the start of the season, he was one of our most reliable and stand-out stars. He should play all the time, at a high level, and do all of these things, but that couldn’t be the reason he wasn’t in the squad.”
