With Juventus reportedly set to open talks with Lyon about Houssem Aouar, ARSENAL have received a transfer blow.
The Gunners have been closely linked to the midfielder, but the Italian giants who want him to transfer in the summer look likely to be pipped.
It was said that Mikel Arteta was keen on bringing in the Frenchman this month.
He also caught Paris Saint-eye Germain’s and was worth around £ 45million.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas was adamant that in January, Aouar would not be sold.
And that suits Juve, who, according to Sky Italia, would like to agree with a deal to bring him to Turin in the summer.
The Old Lady allegedly tried last summer to sign and keep keen on the 22-year-old.
And before an official approach is made, they are said to have held provisional talks with the player’s representative.
Last summer, Arsenal even tried to sign a French international.
To try to get a discounted offer for the man who has three goals and three assists from 16 games this season, the North Londoners negotiated long and hard.
But they were ultimately forced to cause the £ 45 million release fee of Thomas Partey, with Lyon not willing to let their star man go cheaply.
And in November, Vincent Ponsont, Lyon’s general manager, announced that in the summer, three clubs were chasing Aouar.
He believed that Arsenal offered very little, even though they were willing to give them a ‘discount’ because of the coronavirus’s financial implications.
