By allowing young people to take over Genoa in the Coppa Italia, Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo gave a glimpse of the future.
Andrea Pirlo felt that Juventus’ young people proved that they were “up to it” but said that after taking extra time to beat Genoa in the Coppa Italia 3-2, they had to be more brutal.
Pirlo was inspired by Juve’s young people but was disappointed that the Serie A champions were taken to the extra time ahead of the battle with Inter on Sunday.
“They played a great match, I’m happy for them because they proved to be up to it. Too bad the game was complicated, we had to close it in the first half.”
Pirlo added: “It happens that now and then when we think the race is over, we lose focus, thinking it’s all easy, but they become complicated games if you don’t have your head right. As happened today when we went to extra time, we lost energy and had to finish it in the first half.”
