Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp dismissed concerns that Thiago would miss the rest of the season after he was not part of the squad to face Shrewsbury in the FA Cup. Fabinho scored a brace to help the Reds advance to the fourth round. The Spanish midfielder has not played since the win over Newcastle on December 16 in the Premier League. Klopp revealed that Thiago is yet to start his rehab and is not ruled out for the season.
“No, neither March nor the end of the season in my mind, It’s something around the hip, that’s the situation,” Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said about Thiago. “He needs time now. He didn’t train this week but we expect him to be back to do rehab stuff from tomorrow on and then we will see. It is not that he is out until the end of the season, not at all.”
Liverpool is short in midfield at the moment with Harvey Elliott out with an ankle injury while Naby Keita is on international duty at the African Cup of Nations. Curtis Jones on the other hand has returned after missing the last 13 matches due to an eye injury.
