Jurgen Klopp made a heartfelt appeal for fans from Liverpool to stay home watching matches and promised the team would always feel their affection as they close up on the title of the Premier League.

Liverpool is inside touching distance of potentially finishing their 30-year wait for a top-flight trophy and restarting on the main end of the week back with a massive Merseyside derby, a clash that could seal the title if they somehow happened to win it and City to lose to Arsenal at home on Wednesday, live on Sky Sports.

Goodison Park will have the Everton game on Sunday, following initial concerns fans could swarm outside the ground and present a coronavirus-related hazard to general health.

In a message on the club’s site to Liverpool fans, Klopp said: “It will clearly be unique, for certain reasons, however you can, in any case, make it exceptionally special.

“When we as a whole realized the dilemma we ‘re going to have, the whole world together, that’s the second we realized football isn’t as important as the prior night when Atletico Madrid was playing.

“I think it is a decent exercise to learn. We had to demonstrate obligation and, we indicated it. There were minutes when we didn’t know whether we were going to play again and, reports of invalid and void and points-per-game were there. There were times when we didn’t know whether we were going to play again because there were reports of invalid and void and points-per-game. Presently we ‘re standing here because the league is going to proceed again because we’ve been behaving professionally. We did the things we had to do because we wanted to save our friends and family, as well as all the others.”
