Jeff Larentowicz is retired

Jeff Larentowicz has announced his retirement. He was a former Atlanta United, LA Galaxy, and New England Revolution midfielder. The 37-year-old had an illustrious career, winning two MLS Cups and appearing in over 400 league games. He was drafted by the Revs in the fourth round of the 2005 Supplemental Draft and quickly established himself as a valuable player. He went on to make over 100 MLS appearances with his first club before going on to the Colorado Rapids, where he won the MLS Cup in 2010.

Until joining Atlanta United in 2017, he played for the Chicago Fire and the Los Angeles Galaxy. One year back, he helped the Five Stripes win the MLS Cup, followed by the Campeones Cup and US Open Cup the next year.

Jeff Larentowicz announces retirement

Larentowicz declared his retirement from Major League Soccer in a tweet that said,

“Today I am announcing my retirement from Major League Soccer. Before I go, I’d like to thank everyone who has made it possible for me to be here. 16 years since I began my unlikely journey. There are many employees inside an organization. These are the workers who work the hardest and are the most important: the back-room workers. The ATCs, the equipment crew, and the surgeons. They are rarely seen on stage or in match photos. But they are the players and the organization’s lifeblood.”

Larentowicz then thanked many coaches who had an impact on his career before paying tribute to his supporters.

“Thank you for your support, New England, Atlanta, Colorado, Los Angeles, and Chicago fans. Often there were a lot of you, sometimes there weren’t, but if there’s one thing we’ve noticed as sports lovers over the last year, it’s that you make the game worth watching and playing. Thank you so much.”

We at thefootballindia pay tribute to the star for creating an impact on the football world with his performance.
