Italy beat England in the Euro 2020 final via the penalty shootout to secure their second European Championship. Find the Italy player ratings below
Gianluigi Donnarumma – 7
He was not at fault for the first goal and could do nothing about it. He was later named UEFA Player of the Tournament based on his penalty shootout heroics in the semifinals and the final.
Giovanni Di Lorenzo – 6
Looked nervous for most of the game but settled in towards the latter stages of the game to his reliable best.
Leonardo Bonucci – 6
The first half was the biggest test of the tournament with Bonucci not having the best half. Scored the all-important equalizer to send the game into extra time.
Giorgio Chiellini – 7
He was forced out of his position in the first half-hour by the English forwards. Was booked on a cynical foul on Saka but made a crucial block from a Sterling shot.
Emerson Palmieri – 4
Palmieri struggled to contain Trippier from bombing forward. Poor touch in the final third on a couple of occasions he did get in behind.
Nicolo Barella – 4
The box-to-box midfielder looked nervous and out of sorts for most of the game. He was replaced by Cristante after 54 minutes.
Jorginho – 7
The Chelsea midfielder was one of the best players on the pitch for the Italians. Grew into the game and never shied away from the ball.
Marco Veratti – 7
He was selected to man-mark Harry Kane when the forward came deep for the ball. He began pulling the strings in the second half.
Federico Chiesa – 8
Chiesa has been in sublime form in the tournament and put up another scintillating performance. He was unfortunate to pick up an injury and be subbed in the second half but earned the highest score in our Italy Player ratings.
Ciro Immobile – 5
He has been anonymous for the knockout stages and his poor form continued in the final. Was subbed off for Berardi in the second half.
Lorenzo Insigne – 6
Made a poor pass in the final third during a rare Italy attack in the first half, and like Immobile, looked frozen by the occasion early on. Got going later in the game before being brought off before extra time.
