Jordan Pickford – 8
The England shot-stopper has been one of the most consistent performers for England in the tournament. Could have been the hero in the shootout if not for the poor penalty takers.
Kyle Walker – 6
Made a brilliant decoy run in the lead-up to the goal. His pace on the cover was critical.
John Stones – 8
Another solid performance from the Manchester City center back. Did not put a foot wrong in the whole game.
Harry Maguire – 8
He was brilliant in defense as he has been all tournament. Was determined to send the English forward in extra time.
Kieran Trippier – 6
He vindicated his selection for a brilliant cross for the goal. Struggled to deal with Chiesa in the second half.
Luke Shaw – 6
He scored the crucial goal, his first for his country. Could not do much for the rest of the game.
Declan Rice – 6
Had a decent game in midfield but was exhausted and subbed with 20 minutes to go.
Kalvin Phillips – 6
Another solid game in midfield but came into his own only once Rice was taken off with Henderson pushing forward.
Mason Mount – 4
Mount had one of the worst games of his career. Deserved to be hauled off earlier than he actually was.
Raheem Sterling – 6
Sterling was threatening whenever he had the ball at his feet. He looked completely exhausted in extra time.
Harry Kane – 5
Kane failed to manage a shot on target neither did he create a chance in the final. He continued to come deep and collect the ball.
Bukayo Saka – 10
England looked like a completely different team once the Arsenal youngster came on. Although he missed, he stepped up for the most pressure penalty for his country in more than half a century. He had never even taken a penalty before this for his club.
