Inzaghi: We could have avoid Atalanta defeat

Football News

Simone Inzaghi was irritated with the ‘totally avoidable’ 3-2 misfortune against Atalanta, an outcome that finished Lazio’s nine-month series An unbeaten streak. After 11 minutes, they had taken a 2-0 lead in Bergamo, through Marten de Roon’s own goal and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic rocket however Robin Gosens, Ruslan Malinovsky, and Jose Luis Palomino turned it around.

Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia: “In three and a half months we had a solid start to go up 2-0, and had the chance to add a third. It’s disappointing that we’ve allowed the comeback, especially the first and third goals, that could be avoided. Such goals can not be surrendered by a team like our own. It’s an extremely significant match, we’ve lost and there are disappointments. I told the team to take the right approach from the start and I can’t complain about it. If we somehow managed to score a third, the match would have gone in an unexpected way. We’ve already had a couple of wounds, Luis Alberto has been unable to play for over 70 minutes, Danilo Cataldi and Tucu Correa have asked to fall off. We didn’t have the choices on the seat to rotate and take off a portion of the heat towards the end.”

Lazio is presently four-point adrift from Series A Juventus leaders, however, there are still a lot of grab points, including a head-to-head point.

He added: “We were unbeaten in 21 rounds, we knew Atalanta was the most noticeably terrible installation we could return to face, however, we didn’t do what’s necessary to get the points. I don’t care for losing and the lads don’t do either. I saw that they were indignant. We must recuperate our vitality, there are games like clockwork and we’re unhappy in that sense, yet there’s no way around the apparatus list.”
