Inter Milan are looking at a potential swap deal with Chelsea, according to Calciomercato, which would see Jorginho move to the San Siro with Christian Eriksen heading in the other direction.
In recent times, the two players have been connected with a host of clubs, with rumors of their discontent with their respective clubs being the explanation for their suggested exits.
Although not much has been talked about Jorginho’s Chelsea departure, Christian Eriksen has always been touted to be on his way out of the San Siro outfit.
In the January transfer window, the Inter Milan CEO also reported that the club was open to listening to offers for the Danish star. After his €20m moved to Inter Milan from Tottenham in January last year, Eriksen has had an adamant time in Italy.
After his outstanding results in the Premier League, there were high hopes for the attacking midfielder. With his playing time-limited, however, Eriksen has struggled to live up to the hype as he struggles to adjust to the tactics of head coach Antonio Conte.
Competition with the Nerazzurri for a starting position has also played a major role in his struggles. In over a year, the 28-year-old has only managed 13 league starts.
In the summer of 2018, Jorginho signed for Chelsea and enjoyed a very fruitful debut season under Maurizio Sarri. In the Premier League that season, the Italian played all but one game and was instrumental to their Europa League title triumph. Jorginho, however, has struggled for regular playing time since Maurizio Sarri left the club.
The idea was supposedly refused by Chelsea as they would rather get cash for their player than choose a swap arrangement involving Christian Eriksen. The Blues assume they can get from Inter Milan for the services of the midfielder between €15m and €20m.
For now, the move is said to be just an idea as the transfer window stays closed until the summer. Antonio Conte, the Inter Milan manager, also said that Eriksen is no longer loyal to the club and is unlikely to transfer.
