Ibra Killing at 39

Football News

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is willing to show that he still holds “ninja” powers at the age of 39, with the evergreen Swedish striker, determined to erase his World Cup “none” after returning to international duty. The AC Milan striker has become the country’s oldest player, having returned to the stage in a 1-0 victory over Georgia after previously leaving on the back of Euro 2016.

With a larger-than-life character confident that he has lost none of his forces, a mysterious frontman is now ready to help Sweden’s cause at this summer’s European Championship and their attempt to enter Qatar 2022.

“When I play, I want to do my things. There is nothing I intend or dream about doing before a game; it’s just impulsive stuff. I’m also able to do those ninja moves. And though I’m 39, I still have it in me. It was an incredible feeling. I just missed the Swedish audience, the supporters, because the last time I played here, it was a packed stadium, and the feeling feels different when it’s full, but the rest of the game was fantastic. I was overjoyed. I had a wonderful feeling when I was on the field, and I wanted to give it my all, as I always do, to help my teammates and myself perform well. It wasn’t an easy game. We weren’t as dangerous as we should have been, but in the end, we prevailed and got the three points we deserved. This is the first game we’ve played together in two to three days, and it can only get better from here”

Ibrahimovic told reporters after adding an assist on his return to the Sweden squad.

Given the fact that he is nearing his fortieth birthday, the mercurial Swede has shown no signs of slowing down at Milan. He has 17 goals for his club this season and is still one of the best players his country has ever made.

Ibrahimovic is also mindful that his illustrious resume contains no goals in World Cup finals, and he is eager to make amends after going scoreless in 2002 and 2006.
