“I got used to it.” – Jose Mourinho on critics of his management

Football News

Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has reacted perfectly to those who have attacked his coaching efforts.

Mourinho joked that no one would ever want to “discuss rocket technology” with NASA scientists. When it comes to football, though, people all around the world think they should address it with “one of the game’s most influential coaches.”

Throughout his 21-year managerial tenure, Mourinho has never shied away from making bold comments.

When he appeared at Chelsea for the first time in 2004, the Portuguese coach introduced himself as the “Special One” during his first press conference.

Years later, during their long-running Premier League feud, he referred to iconic Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger as a “specialist in disappointment.”

Then, at Manchester United, Mourinho bitterly insisted that he be treated with “respect” for winning more Premier League titles than the previous 19 managers combined.

Mourinho has been chastised for Tottenham Hotspur’s underwhelming 2020-21 season.

Despite a strong start to the season, Spurs’ form has dipped significantly in recent months, leaving them sixth in the league table.

In the face of criticism from critics and supporters alike, Mourinho has delivered the right retort.

“I don’t think anybody is going to discuss rocket science with the guys from NASA. But everybody around the world, they think they can discuss football with one of the most important managers in the game! That’s the beauty of football. I got used to it. I appreciate that. So that’s fine for me” –  Mourinho said during a virtual live event with Spurs’ club sponsors.
