Harry Kane : Tottenham

Jonathan Woodgate feels that Harry Kane will stay only if Tottenham starts winning trophies. He is also not sure whether lifting the Carabao Cup is enough for Harry Kane to stay. Jonathan Woodgate scored the winner in extra time to help the Spurs win their last trophy. It came in a 2-1 win over Chelsea in the 2008 League Cup final. This Sunday, the Spurs have a chance to replicate their 2008 success against holders Manchester City.

Harry Kane is doubtful for the Tottenham final against Manchester City after suffering an ankle injury against Everton in the Premier League. He is yet to win a piece of silverware with his boyhood club. Woodgate feels that to keep Harry Kane, Tottenham would have to end their 13year drought as well as commit to major investment.

“They have to [start winning silverware] with the stadium they have built and with the players, they have got,” said Woodgate. “They have got the best striker in England in Harry Kane so they need to start winning trophies for him. They’re a well-run football club but they need to start soon.”

“I am not sure,” Woodgate replied when asked if winning the Carabao Cup would be enough incentive. “They will need more investment for Harry Kane to stay, I’m sure of that. He’s been unbelievable again this season and scored so many goals and even evolved as a player by making so many assists. He’s an incredible talent so I would say Spurs need to invest to keep Harry Kane at the club.”

Tottenham had failed to add silverware under Mauricio Pochettino. He took them to the final of the Champions League as well as a runner-up finish in the Premier League. Spurs are staring down the barrel of a second season in a row without Champions League football. They are also recovering from a failed attempt to join the European Super League.
